Pataka Sculpting shots
Here's a couple shots from our sculpting workshop from December last year!
Huge thanks to Matt Hosey for the beautiful photos, and to everyone who made it along to the workshop. It was a great experience for me, and it was amazing to share some of my ideas with those who made it along.
Sorry that I didn't manage to get photos of everyone's work, but feel free to send them to me, if you want to share.

If you look closely and you can see Dennis' dragon swimming through the seaweed.

Tidal Tyranny + Workshop
Workshop Fun
OK.
So about a month or so ago I was approached by a good friend of mine who thought it would be a great idea to run a workshop. I have never ran a workshop of any kind, so I thought why not!
Frankly the idea kind of scares me a little but non the less it will be a great experience for me
and for anyone who is interested in my work and my process.
So here we are - I'm a running a driftwood sculpting workshop at Pataka Gallery in Porirua
on the 6th of December. It will start at 11 am and go till 4pm.
$50 for the day.
All materials will be supplied, how ever if you have any great pieces of driftwood or seaweed you think might be a great addition feel free to bring it along!
Only 15 spots and they are filling up quick. So if you would like to come along or get more information please email me at
che.thorpe@gmail.com to secure a spot.
Thank you!!!!
Also this Tidal Tyrant below will be for sale at Black coffee in Newtown.

Hell O ween
"The creature from Black Lagoon",
It's a fun sculpt from a while back,
I enjoyed playing with a lot of different textures for his face and shoulders.
I have 3D printed him for a friend, but I still have a bit of clean up on him before he's ready.
As you can see below I'm currently obsessed with Del Toro's Pale man, such a symbol of pure evil.
In this case I think my budget Halloween costume has captured his essense more effective than my Zbrush sculpt

Digital Sculpting
Hi everyone!
Sorry that it's been such a long time since I have done a post!
I am wanting to start get back into sculpting and posting more consistently.
I know this is a bit different from what I usually post, but I have recently been learning how to use Zbrush, and am loving the results. I have found it really fun and intuitive and can get some great results relatively fast.
This guy was sculpted in Zbrush and lighting was done in Maya and rendered using Mental Ray.
This a creature sculpt of Pan. He is from one of my favourite creature movies Pan's Labyrinth directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
I decided to sculpt the hair as solid geometry, so I have the option of 3D printing him at a later date.
